10 Amazing Leopard Print Crochet Designs

I don’t know about you, but I love a good leopard print. A few years ago, I decided to design a crochet pattern for leopard print beanie and so began the Luxe Leopard Collection. Since then, I’ve added several pieces to the still-growing collection, all of them implementing leopard print into crochet.

Here I’ve rounded them all up for you so you can browse the entire collection! I’ve got a little snippet on each of my designs, plus links to where you can find the patterns on my site and my shops.

About the Collection

If you’ve purchased any of Luxe Leopard patterns, you already know that these most of patterns are worked from a graph using waistcoat stitch. This method gives each of these patterns a fun, knit look. I used the same method across the most of the collection (with the exception of a few patterns), but customized the graphs a bit for each pattern.

To make these pieces, you’ll need to learn a bit of tapestry crochet. This means that you’ll want to know the following techniques:

  • Changing Colors
  • Carrying Yarn
  • Reading a Tapestry Crochet Graph
  • Waistcoat Stitch or Single Crochet in BLO

If you’re brand new to these techniques, don’t worry! You can learn them quickly, I promise. I like to send people to this tutorial video to get started with learning tapestry crochet.

What to Look for…

I’m going to give you all a little bit of a preview of the patterns that you’ll find in this post. It keeps on growing, so I’ll continue to add patterns as I create them.

The Luxe Leopard Beanie – Worsted

Luxe Leopard Beanie – Worsted (Petite Print)

About the Pattern

The Luxe Leopard Beanie in worsted weight was modeled after the original Luxe Leopard Beanie in bulky. As I got more and more questions about how to adjust it for lighter yarn, I decided it was time to revisit the pattern. This beanie still has 8 sizes, but in new stitch counts to correspond to worsted weight yarn. And since there’s more stitches per beanie, I included an additional “petite print” chart that features a smaller spot leopard print pattern.

The Luxe Leopard Beanie – Bulky

Luxe Leopard Beanie in Bulky

About the Pattern

The bulky version of this beanie was actually the first of the collection. This beanie is made with aran weight/bulky 5 yarn. I love how quickly this hat works up. It’s available in Newborn to Adult size, so you can make one for everyone! Waistcoat stitch creates a pretty dense fabric, so this hat is nice and warm. I originally designed this hat using Lion Brand Color Made Easy, which I think is a great yarn for working waistcoat stitch. It’s got a great texture and the yarn slides so easily. (Note: Brava Bulky from WeCrochet is a another great substitute.)

How to Get this Pattern

You can find the free version of this pattern that includes 4 sizes (Baby, Toddler, Child, Adult) here.

There are two PDF’s available for purchase of this pattern. The extended version contains two graphs, one for the baby sizes and one for the larger sizes. Plus the Valentine’s Day special, the “Love Leopard” bonus graph. It also includes stitch counts for 8 different sizes. You can purchase the full version of this pattern on Ravelry or Etsy.

Or if you only want the adult version as PDF printable, you can purchase it for a discounted price as well (Ravelry or Etsy).
