Falling for Textures Blanket: Free Crochet-Along
The end of summer is bittersweet. We will all miss the sunshine and long days; but I just can’t help but be excited about fall. Fall means it’s time for bulky yarn, chunky sweaters, and cozy blankets! And today, I’ve got just the cozy blanket for you…the Falling for Textures Blanket. You’re gonna love this amazing crochet throw blanket!
This fabulous blanket is the Pineapple & Pine September Crochet-Along. Whether you’re making it with us or finding it later, we think you’re going to love all the beautiful texture and crochet techniques that this blanket has to offer.

The Inspiration
Sarah, from A Plush Pineapple, and I have been running Pineapple & Pine together now for over 6 months. Each time we do a Crochet-Along, we try to come up with something that is modern, unique, and that you all will actually want to make.
This month, we decided that crochet throw blanket was the way to go. This project is two-fold; not only are you going to have an amazing, cozy blanket by the time cool weather hits, but you’re going to learn some great crochet stitches as well.
And as you know, we love to incorporate other designers whenever we can. So this time around, you’ll be getting three unique squares from five different designers! We all worked together to make this huge project happen.
About the Blanket
Measurements
- Finished blanket will measure 50″ wide x 70″ long
- Blanket is made from 35 squares
- Each blanket square measures 10″ x 10″
This blanket is designed to be a oversized throw blanket. Each square is 10″ x 10″. The squares will be arranged 5 across and 7 down so your total blanket will be 50″ x 70″ before adding a border. If you’re thinking “Whoa, that’s too big for me!”, never fear! You can easily adjust the size of your blanket by simply making less squares.
Here’s a few other blanket size suggestions in case you decide to adjust!
About the Yarn
For this Crochet-A-Long, the yarn was generously provided by WeCrochet. All the designers used Mighty Stitch worsted weight. Mighty Stitch is an 80/20 acrylic and merino wool blend. It’s really soft, easy to work with, and makes a really cozy finished throw blanket. You can check out the different color options for this yarn on the WeCrochet website.
If you’re looking for something a little more budget-friendly for this project, any worsted weight yarn will be a great substitute. You might try checking out the Brava worsted weight from WeCrochet as an alternate. It’s 100% acrylic and comes in a pretty wide variety of colors. I’m currently using it for a different project.
