It’s that time again…Designer Spotlight! Being knee-deep in May’s spring flowers, it only seemed fitting to take on a slightly “spring-y” theme this month. We decided to go with a category that most people like to crochet in the spring and summer. So this time around it’s all home decor! So whether you’re looking for a small quick make for market or a big beautiful project for yourself, there’s something here for you!

About Designer Spotlight

If this is your first time checking out a Designer Spotlight post, then get ready for some fun! Pineapple & Pine Designer Spotlight is a way to feature different crochet designers and their patterns. Every other month we have a new theme and new batch of designers to showcase. Like I mentioned above, this month we’re focusing on home decor patterns.

How it Works

Three days a week during the Spotlight, I will be featuring a new designer and their pattern. There will also be an exclusive coupon code just for you to use that day. All of our designers will have at least a 50% off discount for you…some might even be free! Once you have the code, click the link below the pattern feature and head on over to their selling platform to grab that PDF.

You will be spending the first two weeks of Designer Spotlight with me on this blog post. Starting May 17, 2021, you can find all the Designer Spotlight features on the A Plush Pineapple blog.

British Isles Rug

By PukaPuka

Pattern Description

This British Isles Rug is crocheted entirely with single crochet stitches. With a chart and row-by-row stitch count, it is easy to follow; and with a big hook and super chunky t-shirt yarn, it works up really quickly!

Inspiration

I love maps, as they are full of information about the world around us. Also I think decorating a home with maps is not only educational but also brings the spirit of travel and adventure to one’s interior. Crocheting this rug makes you think of the rocky Scottish coasts and contemplate the isolation of tiny North Atlantic islands.

Maria, @pukapukapl

Designer Bio

Maria is the designer behind Pukapuka. She’s been crocheting since her geography studies and loves the union between her two big passions: geography and crochet. With her map designs she proves one can travel the world with a crochet hook in one hand and her pattern in another. She loves travels, nature, hiking, riding a bike, swimming, and kayaking with her big family.

You can find her work on Facebook and Instagram. You can also shop her designs on Etsy, Ravelry and LoveCrafts.

Lily of the Valley Cozi

By Angel Kissed Fiber Arts

Pattern Description

The Lily of the Valley Cozi has many options and uses. Make it skinny or wide, short or tall, solid color, or many colors. Adjustments are listed in the pattern. This cozi can be used on mason jars or other containers (such as old frosting containers or other smaller round containers). Use it for drinks or for storage solutions around the house.

Inspiration

I wanted something that could cover mason jars of all sizes. I like using smaller mason jars as cups for my children, but covering them makes it a little quieter when they set them down on the table or counter. It also helps prevent slips from wet cups if they have ice in their water. I also wanted the pattern to be able to fit multiple container options to be used for storage. I designed this early in the pandemic and wanted an option to cover a jar for school supplies at school to help keep my children’s supplies separate from other kids and help them easily identify their own supplies. After making a few, I realized I needed to make many more for all the uses I kept finding.

Jessica, @angelkissedfiberarts

Designer Bio

Jessica is the designer and maker behind Angel Kissed Fiber Arts. Playing with yarn has been a passion since she taught herself to crochet (and later knit) while serving in the military. When not working with yarn, Jessica is playing with and caring for her four young children or working as a lactation consultant and birth doula. Children and babies have always been a big part of her life, and baby or child related items are always Jessica’s favorite projects.

Air Plant Wall Hanging

By Chalia’s Craft

Pattern Description

If you enjoy adding greenery to your living space, you might enjoy the Air Plant Wall Hanging pattern. This beautiful beaded and functional wall hanging is a great way to display your air plants and add a bit of art to your walls. I made this design with Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton and wooden beads. Enjoy this project in any color and your choice of beads because the sky is the limit when you D.I.Y. 😉

Inspiration

Caring for plants is a hobby of mine so I’m always thinking of new plant hangers to make. Since I enjoy working with cotton yarn and beads, I thought I’d combine them both for this project.

The Dilly Diamond Placemat Set is a textured placemat and coaster pattern duo. The texture of this pattern is obtained by playing around with three loops of the half double crochet stitches. The pattern uses 100% cotton worsted weight yarn

Inspiration

I love incorporating textured stitches into my designs. When I was exploring other ways of textured stitches and playing around with my yarn and hook, I ended up with this design

Twisted Flower Slim Can Cozy

By Curly Ginger Creations

Pattern Description

The twisted flower slim can cozy is not only functional but aesthetically pleasing from many angles. It may be used for slim cans, but there’s an array of options you could use it for.

Inspiration

My inspiration for this pattern came one day while I was drinking a small 8.4 oz can, and I wished I had a cozy for it. I realized I had a need to fulfill and started crocheting. The pattern works so well with a small can of red bull, your favorite hard seltzer drink, or even a vase like one of my testers did!

Lauren, @curlygingercreations

Lauren is the maker and designer behind Curly Ginger Creations. When she is not crocheting either her own designs or testing for other designers, she also plays with her 3D printer, works with resin, and uses her Cricut to make a variety of fun, customizable gifts or items. She lives in Texas with her husband and three tiny humans, a four-year-old son and twin three-year-old girls that keep her on her toes. Crafting is her happy place and her therapy when she gets a little down time.

For the Love of Tulips Cup Cozy

By Crochet Highway

Pattern Description

Keep your drinks hot and your hands safe with this gorgeous, spring-themed cup cozy design! Featuring the designer’s fresh and original take on the tulip stitch, the For the Love of Tulips Cup Cozy works up quickly in just one sitting. Before you finish your first cup cozy, you’ll already start planning your color combos for the next ones! Even though the stitches involved may look intimidating, the pattern includes detailed instructions, a bunch of tips and tricks, as well as step-by-step pictures to help you along the way!

Inspiration

Roses are overrated, don’t you think? My absolute favorite flower is the tulip. Maybe it’s because of its simplicity, its history, or the bright and colorful tulip fields. Who knows? I just knew I wanted to design a crochet tulip stitch that actually did justice to my favorite flower. With bigger, fuller tulip flowers and a contrasting background to highlight the stitch even more, this is the fresh and eye-catching version of the tulip stitch you’ve always wanted!
